Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari will not remain in office for an additional day.
This was stated by Mustapha, the head of the Presidential Transition Council, on Tuesday, March 28 during a press conference. He stated that all efforts are being made to ensure a smooth transition and that it is proceeding as planned.
SGF stated;
It is a constitutional issue, and regardless of how the legal disputes involving the election petitions are addressed, the formal transfer of power on May 29 will proceed as scheduled.
"President Muhammadu Buhari would not stay in office through May 29 to hand over authority to the winner as announced by INEC.
The federal government has released a statement to that effect, saying, "The judicial processes will continue, and we are doing everything to ensure that the transition process is not abbreviated.
There will be a peaceful, formal transfer of power to the new president-elect on May 29. All efforts are being made to guarantee that the transition process is smooth.
