The comedian AY Makun has spoken about how he lost N500 million to a non-smoking nightclub company.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, AY stated that although his wife vehemently opposed the concept, he still went through and invested N500 million in the company.
The comedian claimed that despite spending a lot of time researching the company, God declared it to be "not his calling" and the venture to have "failed."
If you can assemble 6,000 people in the Eko Hotel, what's in a club that you couldn't just gather 100 to 200 people buying drinks? I woke up one day and said to myself, "It's time to open a nightclub."
"I believe God was simply letting me know that you are the one calling yourself; this is not your calling," you.
"Having the appropriate relationship is beneficial, but my wife was adamantly opposed to it. No, it's good for networking and PR, I said. Salutations to all the men who are participating and doing it correctly.
"However, I then reasoned that I would just remove them all from the market when I arrived. The sum invested was almost 500 million naira.
"We got everything in place, the staff strength was strong, the inside was crazy, and every Friday when I go there, I'll glance at the door and I won't see anyone coming.
"The opening was enormous and spectacular. I initially joined a club that was non-smoking; I had no idea that all of these things were related.
The smart ones will call, and I'll tell them that women should keep their wigs nice and that occasionally when I take my wife to the club, when we get home, her hair will smell like smoke. To cut a long tale short, when I saw my "period," it was awful.
AY already described the origins of his 17-year conflict with Basketmouth.
