Man detained for negligently abandoning a loaded dane gun that a 13-year-old in Ogun inadvertently used to murder a 3-year-old

Man detained for negligently abandoning a loaded dane gun that a 13-year-old in Ogun inadvertently used to murder a 3-year-old. Semiu Adegesin, 45, was detained by Ogun State Police Command officers on Friday, March 10, for contributing to the death of Esther Samuel, a 3-year-old daughter.

The dead was shot and killed with a dane pistol by a 13-year-old child named Ope Babalola in Kukudi Village, Imasayi, according to a report filed at Imasayi Divisional Headquarters, according to a statement from the police command's spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi.

Upon receiving the information, SP Arowojeun Michael, the DPO for the Imasayi division, immediately led his investigators to the spot, where they encountered the deceased in a pool of her own blood. The defendant Semiu Adegesin loaded his dane gun and negligently left it in the open in the backyard of the house, where kids used to play, according to the preliminary inquiry. Ope Babalola, 13, picked up the loaded weapon there, pointed it at the victim, and fired the trigger.

The dead, according to Oyeyemi, was transferred to General Hospital Ilaro without delay, where the on-call doctor verified her death. He continued by saying that the owner of the dane gun had been quickly apprehended and sent to the station for questioning.

Police Commissioner CP Frank Mba, who called the occurrence regrettable, sympathized with the victim's family and urged everyone to remain calm while the case is being thoroughly examined. The CP has ordered that the case be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department's Murder division for a covert probe.
