Since I won on the Labour Party platform, I can never dump the party that produced me- Sam Atu

The Labour Party's candidate for the Enugu North/South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Mr. Chimaobi Sam Atu, reportedly stated in an interview with a Punch correspondent that he will never defect to another party, according to news that was published by the Punch paper online this morning.

He was informed during the interview that some people have claimed that some of the people who won elections on the platform of the Labour Party may leave the party for the larger All Progressives Congress or Peoples Democratic Party. However, he declared during the interview that he would not leave his party for another.

"I can never leave the party that created me," he declared, explaining that he had won on the Labour Party's platform. Instead, I will put up greater effort to ensure that, in any area where the party is struggling, I will set it right so that more people would believe our slogan that a new Nigeria is achievable.

"It won't be by switching from one political party to the other," he continued. We continue to see our ideology as the new face of politics in Nigeria. Hence, because no other party compares to the Labour Party, I have no intention of leaving it.
