Tenant allegedly k!lled her landlord by grabbing his genitalia, prompting Ogun police to arrest her

On March 11, a man from the Ogun State Police detained Ifeoma Ossai, 33, for allegedly k!lling Monday Surulere Oladele, her 50-year-old landlord, over a small argument. Ifeoma was detained as a result of a report that Mr. Olaleye Taiwo made to the Nigerian Police Divisional Headquarters in Sango Ota, claiming that his brother, Monday Oladele, had a dispute with a tenant over the failure to pay an electrical bill.

According to a statement made by the state police command's spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Ifeoma allegedly seized the deceased's privates and dragged him along with him, forcing the landlord to fall to the ground. He claimed that the attack victim was taken unconscious to the Ota General Hospital, where the attending physician confirmed his fatherhood.

The DPO Sango Ota Division, CSP Saleh Dahiru, was informed of the incident, and according to Oyeyemi, he immediately led his detectives to the area, where the suspect was soon apprehended and put into custody for questioning.

When questioned, Ifeoma allegedly stated that the deceased urged her to pay her energy bill, but she insisted that she would not pay it or any other utility payment until the apartment had a direct water connection, as the landlord had promised when she moved in.

The PRO claimed that the argument between the deceased landlord and his tenant over the payment of a utility bill was to blame for the deceased's slumping, being taken to the hospital, and being given the death sentence by the attending physician.

Additionally, he disclosed that the deceased landlord's body had been placed at the hospital morgue for a postmortem examination. Oyeyemi noted that CP Frank Mba, the police commissioner, had directed the suspect's immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department's Murder branch for additional inquiry and assiduous prosecution.
