The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review results of Saturday’s governorship and States Assembly elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that it will carefully examine the outcomes of the gubernatorial and States Assembly elections held on Saturday.
The commitment was made by the election umpire in response to claims of intimidation, provocation, and result manipulation in a number of states.
Moreover, INEC provided an explanation for why not all of the results from the February 25 presidential election had been published to IReV, its results viewing facility.
Festus Okoye, the INEC spokesperson, issued the following statement:
"During the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Commission did not make a deployment to 176,846 polling locations. The Commission was sent to a total of 176,606 voting units after we informed Nigerians that certain polling places had no registered voters.
However, there were areas where the deployment was not carried out as well as areas where polls were not held. You shouldn't anticipate any results from those locations to be uploaded to the INEC Results Viewing Portal.
In order to give those who want to go to court or give litigants the opportunity to have the data from the commission's backend relating to those who were accredited during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections
the commission made sure that data that were left behind in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) relating to the Governorship and State Assembly Elections were pushed to the backend.
