The Labour Party (LP) says it is not part of any insurrection plan being planned in Nigeria according to the Department of State Services (DSS)


"However, what I'm saying is that we would defend and protect the interests of the Nigerian people in accordance with the law provisions that specify that you have the right to protest if you are hurt and that you would do so while being protected by the Nigerian security apparatus. That is what we would do, but we would never support a revolt in any way.


He asserted that some party supporters had been refused the ability to cast a ballot during the 2023 elections in some parts of the country and accused the DSS and other security agencies of failing to uphold the interests of the Nigerian state.


On Channels Television's Lunch Time Politics on Thursday, he stated, "We are not affiliated with any insurrection plots whatsoever.


"However, what I'm saying is that we would defend and protect the interests of the Nigerian people in accordance with the legal provisions that stipulate that you have the right to demonstrate if you are being injured and that you would do so under the protection of the Nigerian security apparatus. That is what we would do, but we would not in any manner aid an uprising.


He claimed that some of the party's followers had been denied the right to vote in some regions of the nation during the 2023 elections and accused the DSS and other security organizations of failing to protect the interests of the Nigerian state.


He continued by saying that even if we are protesting in the streets, the DSS and other security organizations should defend us. He insisted that the Labour Party is not encouraging people to engage in street combat.


He claims that LP won't do anything that is against Nigerian legislation.


We are prepared to abide by the norms and regulations of a democratic environment, he insisted.
