Suspected armed robbers pursue and kill a man, taking 10 million from him in the process

Following the shooting of a middle-aged driver known only as Mr. Olasunkanmi Joseph by unidentified gunmen believed to be armed robbers, palpable uneasiness spread around areas of Ado-Ekiti, the capital of the Ekiti state.

Punch claims that on Thursday, April 6, 2023, the masked attackers pursued the victim in his automobile around the Irona neighborhood of the capital city.

According to sources who spoke to the publication, the shooters followed the man and ambushed him when he became caught in traffic.

According to the way he had been driving up until that point, it appeared as though he was being followed, but when he was unable to proceed farther, his attackers caught up with him in the snarl of traffic. He was dragged out of the automobile and to the ground by the masked assailants. He was shot dead. They retrieved a bag from his car and sped away in their own vehicle. Nobody can say with certainty whether the bag contained money or something else, he said.

However, according to The Nation, the assailants stole N10 million from the deceased as he attempted to withdraw money from a commercial bank in Ado-Ekiti as he was en route home.

According to a roadside vendor in the vicinity, the victim was being pursued as he tried to cross the roundabout but was slowed down by the dense traffic and obstructed by the attackers.

Another speaker, a middle-aged guy who only gave his name as Paul, described how the victim tried to flee the scene but was slowed down by the dense traffic before being shot by the perpetrators on the motorcycle.

"As he hurriedly tried to navigate the roundabout, the man realized he was being pursued. But he replied that he was slowed down by the traffic.

The event caused chaos as commuters, roadside vendors, and bystanders scurried for cover while the assailants fired erratically.

Aje Smith, a Facebook user, affectionately referred to the victim as Mr. Jossy, a POS operator, and claimed that he had saved them from difficulty brought on by a lack of cash.

Sunday Abutu, a spokesperson for the State police Command, verified the occurrence and stated that an inquiry has started.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies may undermine the international status of the US dollar

According to ChainCatcher news, Beincrypto reports that Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, stated in a recent letter that cryptocurrencies (especially Bitcoin) have many benefits, especially through tokenization, but that they could threaten the dollar's standing internationally if investors see them as a hedge against inflation. "The dollar's position as the world's reserve currency has benefited the U.S. for decades, but that does not guarantee it will always be so. By 2030, mandatory government spending and debt servicing will consume all federal revenue, leading to a permanent deficit. If the U.S. cannot control its debt… it could potentially relinquish this status to digital assets like Bitcoin," said Larry Fink, who said that the interests of cryptocurrencies do not always coincide with those of traditional finance (TradFi) or the dollar. It is crucial to make clear that Fink maintains his support for cryptocurrencies and enumerated a number of actual issues...
