Trump pleads not guilty to criminal charges

 


In a historic judicial proceeding in New York on Tuesday, Donald Trump entered a not-guilty plea to charges related to payments made to a porn star as hush money before the 2016 presidential election.


Numerous charges are being brought against the 76-year-old Republican former president in the case, which could completely alter the 2024 presidential election.


Trump turned himself in on Tuesday for a historic court hearing in New York that was conducted amidst high security and a media frenzy around the world. The Republican billionaire is now the first president of the United States to ever be charged with a crime.


The hearing, which is being broadcast live on television and features rival protestors rallying outside, is a turning point for the US criminal justice and political systems and has the potential to completely alter the 2024 presidential election, in which Trump is currently the front-runner for the Republican Party.
