According to President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan's decision to admit defeat before the official announcement of the election results was unusual and clearly un-Nigerian. At a goodbye gathering with his media allies, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO), on May 18 at the State House in Abuja, Buhari made the statement. "That evening at 5:25, Jonathan called to congratulate me. I apologized, Mr. President. He acknowledged that I had called to accept and congratulate him. That was also incredibly un-Nigerian.
