President Muhammadu Buhari, has stated that the act of his predecessor, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, to concede defeat, even before the formal announcement of the election result, was unprecedented and, definitely, not Nigerian
According to President Muhammadu Buhari, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan's decision to admit defeat before the official announcement of the election results was unusual and clearly un-Nigerian.
At a goodbye gathering with his media allies, the Buhari Media Organisation (BMO), on May 18 at the State House in Abuja, Buhari made the statement.
"That evening at 5:25, Jonathan called to congratulate me. I apologized, Mr. President. He acknowledged that I had called to accept and congratulate him. That was also incredibly un-Nigerian.
The president praised members of BMO for giving their time and effort throughout the eight years of his administration "without salary, letter of appointment, or any formal rewards, describing their sacrifices as'very un-Nigerian,'" while urging Nigerians to follow the path of duty if they truly wanted to see the country reach new heig
