A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, causing widespread destruction and loss of life across Southeast Asia. The quake, which occurred at 1:30 p.m. local time, was centered near Mandalay, the country's second-largest city, and was followed by a 6.4-magnitude aftershock just 11 minutes later.¹
