A Nigerian woman's decision to shut down her multimillion-naira supermarket has sparked outrage online. The woman, who had been running the supermarket since 2021, revealed on TikTok that she closed the business because her church pastor instructed her to do so.¹


Her statement, "I closed down my supermarket worth millions because my pastor told me so," has raised concerns about manipulation and blind obedience. Many have flooded the comment section, expressing their disbelief and criticism. Some comments include:


- *Manipulation concerns*: "d way dem dey manipulate people wey no fit think for themselves ehn" (Wet Panda)

- *Questioning obedience*: "how can you close Ur super market because of a man!?" (Ikenna Grant).

- *Criticism of influence*: "those people are the worst u can get in contact with" (ugochukwu ikechuk258).


The woman's decision and the reactions that followed have ignited a conversation about the influence of religious leaders on their followers' decisions.
