INEC CHAIRMAN SPEAKS on Cancellation of Results

"I Say No to Cancellation of Results. This election is far from being perfect, just like many before it, but there's no election in the recent history of this country that has thrown up so much upset like this one. If the least expected small parties had upstaged the big ones in their homestead, I don't see the logic in insinuating malpractice where the big ones are leveraging advantage.   I, therefore, say no to cancellation of the results. INEC should run the full course and let the process of redress take over afterwards. We will survive this like every other. Proposing cancellation is defeatist, and I disagree with the proponents. You can't celebrate your big wins in some places but challenging those of others in their supposed stronghold. Does it mean you approached the election with a degree of entitlement or mindset? That is double standards. Let everyone lick their wounds, at least, for now! - Prof Mahmood Yakubu Chairman of Independent National Electoral C

The Federal Government reply former President Olusegun Obasanjo

The Federal Government has asked former President Olusegun Obasanjo not to truncate the 2023 general elections with his ‘’inciting, self-serving and provocative letter'' on the elections held last Saturday, February 25.   In an open letter addressed to President Buhari on Monday, February 27, Obasanjo raised concerns over the discrepancies in last Saturday, February 25 elections. He stated that there are allegations of some INEC officials being compromised and paid to do what they are not supposed to do. He said to avoid causing uproar in the country, the right thing must be done. He suggested that in areas were the elections were flawed, a repeat should be conducted on March 7.   Reacting to his letter, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement released, said what the former President “cunningly” framed as an “appeal for caution and rectification” was nothing but a calculated attempt to undermine the electoral process and a wilful incitement to vi

PDP, LP And Several Others Pull Out Of Presidential Collation, Accuse INEC Of Compromise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been accused of compromising the 2023 presidential election held on the 25th of February, 2023. This is coming after some political parties challenged INEC for not uploading results from polling units across the country before the national collation started in Abuja. The agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye and former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha had challenged the electoral body to attend to their demand. However, hours after resuming collation and listening to the opinions of party agents, INEC ignored their demands and continued with the collation. The development saw agents of the PDP, Labour Party (LP) and several others pull out of the presidential collation. The agents of the political parties threatened to act on their demands, following the decision of INEC to continue with collation.

What Italy Boss Roberto Mancini Said About Children Painting Their Face Black To Look Like Victor Osimhen

During a carnival week in Naples, Italy manager Roberto Mancini defended some children who were accused of racism after painting their faces black so they could lol like Serie A leading scorer Victor Osimhen. Adults and children alike often attend the carnival dressed as one of their heroes, and this year some children opted to symbolize Osimhen, who has scored 20 goals in 24 appearances for Napoli this season. Napolian writer Sabrina Efionayi – who, like Osimhen, is of Nigerian ancestry – turned to social media to chastise parents for allowing their children to wear blackface at the carnival. Despite understanding why the young fans wanted to dress up in such a way, Efionayi felt it was alarming that Italians do not understand why ‘blacking up’ is offensive. She said on Facebook: ‘Every time a player with black skin excels in a team (in this case, Napoli), I always feel this tremendous angst over how people think he should be celebrated. ‘From the solidarity of Sorbillo to Koulibaly
